An FDNY lieutenant was arrested for drunk driving in Queens after he crashed his SUV, police said Friday.
George Hopkins, 51, was off-duty and allegedly driving drunk shortly after 8:50 p.m. Thursday when he crashed his Kia Soul in the area of Homelawn and 173rd streets in Jamaica Hills, cops said.
When police showed up, he exhibited signs of intoxication, such as the strong smell of alcohol, slurred speech and watery eyes, authorities said.
He was taken to an area hospital, where he allegedly refused to take a Breathalyzer test, cops said.
Hopkins, who has never been arrested before, was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired, police said. https://nypost.com/2019/07/12/off-duty-fdny-lieutenant-busted-in-queens-for-drunk-driving/
