An NYPD narcotics detective — already accused of testing positive for pot — was busted for alleged drunken driving in Orange County, The Post has learned.
Detective Erick Flores was arrested around 3:30 a.m. Oct. 10 by Newburgh Township police after cops chased his 2012 Jeep Cherokee into the city of Newburgh, according to local authorities.
Flores had been trying to avoid the cops over a traffic infraction when he led them on a brief pursuit of “about a mile or so” before being involved in an accident, said a spokesman for Newburgh Township police.
Local cops charged the NYPD detective — who was already suspended by his department over the marijuana testing — with driving while intoxicated. Flores refused to take a Breathalyzer, according to police.
The authorities also slapped him with a series of traffic violations, including unsafe lane change, improper lane use, improper passing and unreasonable speed, the spokesman said.
The detective was previously suspended Aug. 19 after allegedly testing positive for marijuana, police sources said.
A police spokesman confirmed Tuesday that Flores is currently suspended without pay.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office did not have a date on the books for Flores’s arraignment. https://nypost.com/2021/10/19/nypd-cop-already-in-trouble-over-alleged-pot-is-busted-for-dwi/
