A lorry driver has been banned from the roads after he fell out of his cab on a motorway was almost three times over the drink-driving limit.
Police initially thought Pawel Kwik, 31, was having a heart attack when they discovered him on the side of the M6 carriageway in Warwickshire on Saturday night.
Kwik, from Wojsławice, Poland, pleaded guilty to drink driving at Leamington Spa Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
He was disqualified from driving for 22 months, fined £416 and ordered to pay costs of £135 and a £41 victim surcharge.
Members of the public risked their lives to pull over and call the emergency services at about 7.15pm near Junction 2 of the motorway near Coventry.
Police closed the motorway as paramedics rushed to treat Kwik in the middle of lane one, but they soon realised he was drunk.
Inspector Jem Mountford, of Warwickshire Police, said: “We are extremely thankful that no one was killed or seriously injured as a result of this incident.
“Pawel was almost three times over the legal drink drive limit.
“He not only put his own life at risk but that of everyone else using the M6 motorway on Saturday evening.
“Several members of the public put themselves in considerable danger by stopping their vehicles on the hard shoulder of the motorway to help this man.”
His lorry was recovered by officers and is in a police compound. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/polish-lorry-driver-fell-cab-motorway-drinkdriving-144950303.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly9yLnNlYXJjaC55YWhvby5jb20vX3lsdD1Bd3JYZ2lKamNpQmVuRmdBekN2UXRETUQ7X3lsdT1YM29ETVRFeU16VnVOV2x6QkdOdmJHOERaM0V4QkhCdmN3TXhCSFowYVdRRFFqYzFNRFpmTVFSelpXTURjM0ktL1JWPTIvUkU9MTU3OTIxMzUzOS9STz0xMC9SVT1odHRwcyUzYSUyZiUyZnVrLm5ld3MueWFob28uY29tJTJmcG9saXNoLWxvcnJ5LWRyaXZlci1mZWxsLWNhYi1tb3RvcndheS1kcmlua2RyaXZpbmctMTQ0OTUwMzAzLmh0bWwvUks9Mi9SUz1GVHhpZE5kNUxGVFlRWUFvMThGeEFSNUNJclEt&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAALszOHlnkhCkBJOVF5-CdFVgM3eqpYLWn3059F32kxnRDGHoH_Y27BjgNRCju0T33B-BnEwRHr0-zDjw5xK9Q4p5F41OKqZxJOsLrMMaKUbNzXQxvA4oRdH-j8_FXtulc0AL2I8NGQNMHlYMOOSTKCbghzHx3J_utHqZoV9eNQld
