SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — OVI: Van Aken Boulevard
At 1:20 a.m. Sept. 18, officers observed a car stopped, its engine running, in the middle of the road in the 15000 block of Van Aken Boulevard. Officers approached the vehicle and saw inside a man who appeared to be asleep behind the wheel, and two small children, ages 3 and 8, in the back seat.
Police entered the car, ensured the safety of the children, smelled alcohol, and observed that the man, 65, of Cleveland, was showing signs of intoxication. The man failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI and child endangering. The man was found to have a BAC of .128.
OVI: Avalon Road
At 12:45 a.m. Sept. 17, officers saw a Ford van traveling too closely to other vehicles and not driving within marked lanes in the area of Avalon and Kenyon roads. Officers stopped the van, immediately smelled alcohol, and observed that the driver, a Cleveland woman, 24, showed signs of intoxication.
The woman went on to fail field sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI. She was found to have a blood-alcohol content of .136, above the state minimum for drunk driving of .08.
Burglary: Ludgate Road
At 2 p.m. Sept. 17, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Ludgate Road, where an East Cleveland man, 26, reported that someone had entered his unsecured residence and stole personal property valued as $20.
Aggravated robbery: Lee Road
At 12:20 a.m. Sept. 18, officers investigating an aggravated robbery report detained three males — two 17-year-olds from Cleveland Heights, and a Cleveland man, 18 — in the 3000 block of Lee Road. The teens matched the descriptions of three males recently involved in the robbery, which took place in Cleveland Heights.
Shaker Heights officers worked with Cleveland Heights police to positively identify the males and relinquished custody of the suspects to the CHPD.

At 6 p.m. Sept. 18, officers were dispatched to the 18000 block of Parkland Drive, where a Shaker Heights man, 48, reported that an unknown suspect had entered his locked home, damaged a window, and stole $7,950 worth of electronics, jewelry and personal property. Police are investigating.
Domestic violence: Huntington Road
At 8:05 p.m. Sept. 18, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Huntington Road, where a Shaker Heights woman, 44, reported that her 44-year-old live-in boyfriend threw a glass at her, grabbed her, pushed her to the ground, then left their residence. The man surrendered to police later in the evening and was arrested for domestic violence. The woman declined medical attention.
Breaking and entering: Fairmount Boulevard
At 10 a.m. Sept.19, the owner of Bigby Coffee, 20609 Fairmount Blvd., reported that an unknown suspect entered the business during the nighttime hours and stole $297 in cash.
Domestic violence: Chagrin Boulevard
At 8:40 p.m. Sept. 19, officers were dispatched to the Mr. Hero restaurant at 16710 Chagrin Blvd., where a woman, 57, reported that her 62-year-old boyfriend, of Shaker Heights, had punched her in the face. The woman smelled of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated. She declined medical attention. There were no visible signs of injury.
OVI: Chagrin Boulevard
At 5:55 a.m. Sept. 19, officers were dispatched to the BP/711 store at 20420 Chagrin Blvd., on a report of a male asleep in his vehicle. Officers located the man, 33, of Cleveland, who had driven his car into a parking sign.
Officers smelled alcohol on the man’s person and immediately saw that he exhibited signs of intoxication. The man was unable to perform sobriety tests due to a reported injury. Police summonsed the man for OVI, and had emergency medical services transport him to a local hospital.
Theft: Chagrin Boulevard
At 1:30 p.m. Sept. 20, officers were dispatched to Walgreens, 16400 Chagrin Blvd., where they learned that a Cleveland man, 69, had stolen $20.48 worth of cleaning supplies. Police arrested the man for theft.
Sexual imposition: Shaker Boulevard
At 4:05 p.m. Sept. 21, a Shaker Heights boy, 13, reported that his step-brother, also a Shaker Heights resident, assaulted him while in the 16000 block of Lomond Boulevard.
