Colorado DMV Services & Information

The Colorado DMV offers many services for drivers and car owners. They also provide information on how to obtain a new driver license, renew an existing license, change address, and much more.

Driver License Application

If you need to apply for a new driver license, you will need to complete a driver license application. You must submit proof of identity, residency, Social Security number, and other required documents.

Vehicle Registration

To register a vehicle, you will need to provide the following information:

Make and model of the vehicle
Color
License plate number
Year, make, and model of the vehicle's engine
Date of purchase
Mileage
Name of owner
Address where the vehicle is registered
Proof of insurance coverage
A valid driver license
Proof of residency
Other documentation as needed

Title Transfer

If you own a car, truck, motorcycle, boat, RV, or other motorized vehicle, you must register it with the state before you can legally operate it. You can do so by visiting your local DMV office or online at dmv.colorado.gov. Once you have registered your vehicle, you will receive an official title showing ownership of the vehicle.

Vehicle Inspection

To ensure safety and security, each vehicle must pass a thorough inspection prior to being issued a title. This includes checking the vehicle's lights, brakes, tires, windshield wipers, horn, steering wheel, seat belts, mirrors, and gas tank.
