  • DUI arrests spike in SL County; costs go up, too

    The Utah Highway Patrol is reporting a 40-percent increase in DUI arrests in Salt Lake County between 2008 and 2009. It's a record breaking year for the UHP, which has become increasingly aggressive about pulling over and arresting intoxicated people.

  • DUI grant work fails to target interlock devices education

    The Nevada traffic safety office gave a Mothers Against Drunk Driving worker a $20,000 grant last year to educate judges and prosecutors about interlock devices, which keep convicted drunken drivers from starting their cars if they've ingested alcohol.
